Chicago Shoreline

The Fullerton Lakefront expansion project started its build out to protect the shoreline just over a year ago. The project was created by the city of Chicago, Army Corp of Engineers, and the park district and is estimated as a $31.5M project that will add six acres of new park space along the lakefront and a new path for pedestrians and bicyclists.  To begin transforming water to land, cranes jam sheet pile thirty feet into the ground creating a retaining wall and then it is filled with sand and stone.  Large armor stones and sheet piles will help keep large waves from damaging the new paths and Lakeshore Drive.
